Sure! There is a $1.00 replacement fee. We will need to verify your information, and then issue you another card with a new library card number.
It shows my card has expired, how can I renew it?
Sometimes if you call we can renew your card over the phone. If you have to update any information, or there are any other issues, you will need to come in to the library to renew your card. Be sure and bring your library card and driver’s license or state-issued ID.
What is my PIN number?
Your PIN number is the last four digits of your library barcode. If you log into your account online, you have the option of changing your PIN. Just know that we do not have access to your PIN, and if you forget it you will need to call the library and we can reset it for you.
How do I place a hold on an item?
BPL residents may place a hold on any item belonging to the library's MetrOpac partners listed above. The items will be delivered to the designated library for pick up when they are available. BPL non-residents may only place holds on items owned by the Benbrook Public Library.
How do I renew the items I have checked out?
Borrowed items may be renewed in person, by phone, or online on or before the due date. Renewal may be refused if there is a reserve on the item or a block on the account. Other MetrOPAC Libraries may have different renewal policies. If there is no one else on hold, or no blocks on the account, the item will auto-renew for one more checkout period.
My books are overdue. How much do I owe?
Benbrook Public Library is now fine free! However, many of our partners are not. Please make sure you look at the due date of the items and return them on time. Items are declared lost 30 days after the due date, and an invoice will be sent out for the lost item. If the item is not paid for in thirty days, the account may be referred to collections.
I have a block on my account. May I still check out items?
If you owe five dollars or more, your account will be blocked and you will not be permitted to check out items until your fines have been paid.
Where can I return library items?
You may return your items to any MetrOPAC library. The only exceptions are eReaders, Playaway Views, early literacy kits, Rokus, laptops, and hotspots, which may only be returned to the Benbrook Library.
Why does this library do things differently than the Fort Worth libraries?
While we have a reciprocal borrowing agreement with Fort Worth Public Libraries, Benbrook Public Library is NOT a Fort Worth library, which means our policies may differ.
Yes, we have free public access computers available for both adults and children. To access the computers, you will need a Benbrook or Fort Worth library card. If you do not have a library card, you may obtain a free computer guest pass at the circulation desk. Computer sessions are limited to one hour, unless there is no one waiting, in which case extra time may be granted. You are limited to a maximum of three hours of computer use in a single day. The computers shut off automatically ten (10) minutes prior to the closing time of the library.
The library also has laptop computers available for in-house checkout. To check one out, you must provide a current driver’s license and either a Benbrook or Fort Worth library card. Laptops may be checked out for a maximum of two hours.
Can I print at the library?
Yes, you may print in black and white at a rate of 10 cents per page and in color at a rate of 25 cents per page. We also offer wireless printing, which allows you to print from your mobile device or from home, and pick up the print at the library. Discount pricing is offered on print jobs of 50 pages or more.
Does the library have a fax machine?
Yes. We offer free outgoing fax service to local and toll-free numbers. We are unable to send outgoing faxes to long distance numbers, and we cannot receive faxes. Postall, located at 9463 Benbrook Blvd, offers fax services for a fee.
How do I reserve a meeting room?
To reserve one of our small conference rooms, call ahead no more than two days in advance. You can also reserve a small conference room through our website on the homepage. We do have a larger meeting room available on a limited basis, since it is used frequently for library programming. Just click the button reserve a meeting room, or call the library to ask any questions.
I want to volunteer at the library. How do I sign up?

The library doesn't have the book I want. How can I get a copy?
If we don’t have a copy of an item you want, and no library in the MetrOPAC system has it either, it is possible for us to order it for you via interlibrary loan (ILL). ILL is available to all Benbrook library cardholders and can be done in person, over the phone, or online. To request an Interlibrary Loan, please follow the link on our Interlibrary Loan page.
Can I get a TexShare card at the library?
Yes, provided you have a Benbrook resident or non-resident library card in good standing. For more information on the TexShare card program go to our TexShare page.
Do you have AR (Accelerated Reader) books and do you provide AR testing?
We do not separate out the books that are designated as “AR” by the accelerated reader program, however that doesn’t mean we do not own the title or cannot get it for you. Just let us know which title you need and we will find it for you. The library does not provide AR testing. This is a licensed program that your school has purchased.
There's a book I think you should have in your collection. How do I make a suggestion?
We welcome collection suggestions. To make a suggestion, you can either call the library or email email@example.com.
Does the library accept donations?
Yes. We accept donations. Any items that our librarians do not add to our collection are given to the Friends of the Library for their book sale.
