2025 Summer Reading
Summer Reading at the Benbrook Public Library is finally here!
Starting on May 31 and running through August 2, patrons of all ages can enjoy the traditional summer reading program everyone loves with a colorful twist to make the summer even brighter. This year's theme is Color Your World, a vibrant way to keep your attention all summer long.
We are inviting everyone to participate in exciting reading challenges to earn awesome prizes, and come out to special themed programs and fun events to Color Your World this summer!

My First Summer Reading program caters to children aged 0 to 5 as the target audience.
Caregivers will receive a brochure to sign up, filled with challenges and a reading log for little ones to complete.
Upon submission, children will receive a backpack, board book bundle, and a raffle entry for a summer reading basket filled with goodies.
- Visit the Summer Reading Station to pick up a brochure, fill in your child's information to get started.
- Complete at least 6 activities and read 10 books, coloring in completed activities and logging book titles as you go to keep track of your progress.
- Once you complete all tasks return the form to the Summer Reading Station to receive your prizes.
- Children are encouraged to complete as many brochures as they can throughout the summer.
Incentives are a great way to reward and excite young readers during our Summer Reading Program. Children may repeat book logs for additional raffle tickets for a chance to win the grand prize that will be drawn at the end of the Summer Reading Program.
- Finished brochure = Book bag, book, and grand prize raffle entry
- Grand prize = Bluey gift basket

The Children's Summer Reading program targets elementary-aged children (6 to 12) but allows caregivers to enroll younger children (4-5) who can read independently.
Participants will receive a brochure and bookmark upon registration to track their progress. Kids will earn prizes as they read books throughout the summer.
- Sign up by filling out a record sheet at the Summer Reading Station.
- Receive a bookmark, fill out your information, and log 5 books at a time to earn different prizes!.
Summer Reading is all about creating a fun environment where kids feel motivated to read and visit the library during the summer, a perfect way to do that is with incentives!
- 5 books = Pencil or pencil sharpener
- 10 books = Wrist discs
- 15 books = Coupon
- 20 books = Book and a raffle entry to a grand prize that will be drawn at the end of the summer reading program!
- Grand prize = Dogman gift basket
Feel free to repeat the cycle once you've finished the four rounds of 20 books and join us for as many events for more raffle entries for a chance to win the grand prize that will be drawn at the end of the Summer Reading Program!

Teen Summer Reading is our Summer Reading Program tailored for teenagers under 18, offering various reading tasks with prizes and a grand prize opportunity.
Participants receive a BINGO card and can bring it in as they complete each row/column, earning prizes and a raffle entry for each completed BINGO, which is noted and dated by staff.
- Receive your BINGO card at the Summer Reading Station.
- Write the title and author of the book you read in the appropriate box. Complete 5 reading tasks in a row, column, or diagonal to get BINGO.
Receive a prize for every BINGO as well as an entry to our GRAND PRIZE at the end of the summer. (The same book cannot be used for more than one task.)
- You can also earn a raffle entry for the grand prize for every program and event you attend.
Read and win prizes all summer long!
- 5 books = Sticker or Pin
- 10 books = Coupon
- 15 books = Book Light
- 20 books = Tote bag
- 25 books = Book
For every BINGO completed or program attended at the library you will receive a raffle entry for the grand prize!

Color Your Shelf is a reading challenge for players ages 18 and older.
Spin the color wheel to get matched with your reading task and for a chance to win incentives and prizes.
Every book you read earns you an entry into a drawing for big prizes. You will also be entered into the drawing for attending adult programs.
The more books you read and programs you attend, the more chances you have to win!
- Sign up at the Summer Reading Station.
- Each play, you will spin the color wheel once. The color represents the color of the cover book you must read.
- Place the corresponding color peg onto the giant Light Bright Board to mark your turn.
- If you wish to complete the task, get a matching task card. Completing tasks are not necessary however, your turn is over for the day.
- Each completed task earns you one point, and one entry into a prize drawing.
Rainbow
- If your spin lands on the rainbow, you are an instant winner! You may choose one prize and pick any color book to read.
- Rainbow tasks are worth 2 points each.
- Every time you complete a Reading Rainbow (one book each - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) - you may collect a prize!
You will receive the following reading incentives throughout the course of summer reading:
- 3 books = Sticker
- 10 books = Pin
- 20 books = Tote bag
Each week, we’ll randomly select five participants who have read a book that week to receive a small prize.
- Grand Prize 1 = Craft night gift basket
- Grand prize 2 = Date night gift basket
- Grand prize 3 = Girl's night gift basket
- Grand Prize 4 = Family fun gift basket
